The world came to North Texas for soccer this summer and got a pretty great introduction to Texas along the way. Across nine World Cup matches, Dallas welcomed fans from around the globe. The action on the field was incredible, but some of our favorite moments happened when international visitors stepped outside the stadium and embraced everything Texas has to offer.
Moments we loved? Erling Haaland and his Norwegian teammates embracing Texas style from head to toe, decked out in cowboy hats, Western shirts and boots. Swedish fans experiencing their first rodeo in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Buc-ee’s became a must-see stop, Texas barbecue winning over visitors one plate of brisket at a time, and cowboy hats quickly becoming the unofficial souvenir of the summer. And, of course, Messi gave Dallas another moment to remember by making history here by becoming the all-time leading scorer in FIFA World Cup history . Social media filled with visitors discovering our food, culture and Texas hospitality, giving the rest of the world a fun look at North Texas.
Although the World Cup crowds are gone, everything they discovered is still here.
